Visa rolls out solution for AI-enabled commerce

Visa has launched its new "Intelligent Commerce Connect" platform to facilitate the integration of AI into commerce, enabling AI agents to make purchases and merchants to process these transactions more efficiently. The platform acts as a network, protocol, and token-vault-agnostic entry point for agentic commerce, offering a single integration point via the Visa Acceptance Platform. This integration ensures secure payment initiation, tokenization, spend controls, and robust authentication for AI-driven transactions. The solution incorporates both Visa Intelligent Commerce APIs and other network APIs, allowing payments with various card types, thus providing greater choice for agent-led transactions. It aims to make merchant catalogs discoverable within AI platforms, support enablers in processing agentic transactions, and integrate with major token vault providers to prevent vendor lock-in. Currently, the platform is undergoing pilot programs with select partners, including AWS, Diddo, and Payabli, with plans for wider expansion. Visa highlights that this initiative builds a trusted and secure payment infrastructure for the emerging landscape of AI-driven commerce.
